What does it mean if a book or movie is in the Reserve Stacks?

Course Reserves are library materials that are set aside for a specific course at a faculty member's request. Reserve items are available to students upon request at the first floor Help & Information desk and can be checked out during regular service hours.

Most books and DVDs on reserve can only be checked out for 3 hours and must stay in the library. Some reserve items have a 24-hour loan period and can leave the library. If you're not sure what the loan period is for a specific reserve item, ask the staff at the Help & Information desk when they check it out to you. All reserve items are also labeled with the check-out period and hourly rate of overdue fines.
