What is an Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETD) program?

Answer

ETD stands for Electronic Theses and Dissertations. Like many colleges and universities, Northeastern has implemented an ETD program to replace the traditional practice of depositing print copies of theses and dissertations in the library. To participate in the program, students submit their thesis or dissertation electronically to ProQuest/UMI Dissertation Publishing, where it will be made available through the ProQuest Dissertations and Theses (PQDT) database. Because PQDT only permits full-text access to subscribers, a thesis or dissertation submitted there will also be made openly available in the Library’s Digital Repository Service (DRS). Read more about our ETD program here (PDF).
