Link Purpose
Answer
Screen reader users often view a list of links on a page out of their original context. Link text should be descriptive so that users understand where the link will take them. Avoid including the hyperlink address in the text of the link. Many URLs are long and make little sense when read aloud. Short URLs can be okay when used sparingly.
If an image is linked, it must include alt text that describes the purpose of the link.
Avoid duplicate links on a page. When you can't, make sure that all links to the same place have the same visible text and that all links with the same text go to the same place.
