Question: What does overnight floor cleaning mean for students studying in Snell Library?
Last Updated: Oct 23, 2025     Views: 58

Snell Library regularly requires deep cleaning and furniture resetting so that it can withstand heavy use. In order to reduce the impact of limiting study space; Snell Library will regularly close a floor during quieter times. These closures are in the overnight period (after our Service Hours end on the days listed below and before services begin the following day) and students are asked to relocate to another open floor for study during that period.

Library staff will put out the following sign in the lobby so that users know which floor will be closed that evening. Note that the printers, stacks and self-checkout machine will still be accessible on Monday overnights, but the lower level and 1st floor will be closed to study.

The scheduled overnight closures for cleaning during Fall 2025 are:

  • Monday, October 27 (Lower level and 1st Floor)
  • Tuesday, October 28 (2nd Floor)
  • Wednesday, October 29 (3rd Floor)
  • Thursday, October 30 (4th Floor)
